- At Wildly Organic, our bulk hazelnuts for sale are Certified Organic. We start with raw hazelnuts that we then soak and dry under controlled conditions with commercial equipment in a USDA inspected kitchen. Once completely dehydrated, we package our organic hazelnuts in a vapor barrier bag to protect the nuts from sunlight and moisture. At Wildly Organic we do everything possible to ensure these nuts are the highest quality, most delicious hazelnuts available.
- WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF SOAKING AND DEHYDRATING NUTS?
- Sally Fallon and the Weston A. Price Foundation suggest that nuts be soaked and then dehydrated at low temperatures. Here’s why:
- “Phytic acid occurs naturally in nuts, and it protects them until they’re ready for germination. Unfortunately, phytic acid binds to certain minerals and transforms into a phytate, which inhibits your body’s ability to absorb some of the nut’s nutrients.”
- Several cycles of soaking and rinsing and allowing the nuts a little bit of air, the enzyme inhibitors start to break down as the nuts release their protective shield and unlock stored nutrients to prepare for growth.
Once the soaking process is complete, we dehydrate the raw hazelnuts slowly at a very low temperature to extend the shelf life and give them a delicate crunch. The low-heat method will preserve the nutrients and ensure that our hazelnuts for sale remain entirely raw.
